What a thrill! That’s what you’ll say once you’ve experienced the quarter mile toboggan track at speeds of 35-40 miles per hour!
The Refrigerated Toboggan opened for the season on the day after Thanksgiving and operates every weekend through March 2, 2008, and is open from 10 am to 5pm on Christmas Eve and closed Christmas Day.
The hours of operation are Fridays 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Toboggan has extended hours during Christmas break and is open on three holidays, New Years Day, Martin Luther King Day and Presidents Day.
Here are some tips to keep in mind when planning your adventure down the states only refrigerated toboggan run:
- $10.00 per toboggan per hour (Price Subject to Change)
- Warming Center Concession (carry-in food prohibited)
- Maximum of 4 people per toboggan (no exceptions)
- Must use park’s toboggans
- Park entrance fees $4 M-Th, $5 F-Su in-state,$7 out-of-state vehicles, $2 a person on a bus
- Children must be able to understand and abide by rules
- No cameras or video equipment allowed on ride
- A driver’s license is required as a deposit and rents up to 4 toboggans
- No group reservations or group rates
- No all day rentals
- Toboggan will close if temperature drops to 0 degrees F or below
- Sleds rented on first-come first-serve basis only
- Refrigerated Track (snow not needed to operate)
- To avoid long lines visit the slide prior December 22, 2007
- Cash, check, Visa/MasterCard
- Friday night discount, rent 2 sleds get one free (except during Christmas Break)

Pokagon State Park is located near Angola off I-69. Natural lakes abound in this area and the park borders on Lake James and Snow Lake which offer abundant opportunities for boating, swimming and fishing.
