VENTURA, CALIF. (Dec. 14, 2007) –Woodall Publications Corporation, producer of the most comprehensive and reliable campground directories available, has announced the release of its 2008 North American Campground Directory. Keeping rising fuel costs in mind, this year’s directory offers front-of-book editorial features called “One-Tank Trips” highlighting the most interesting trips in seven North American regions that can be explored on a single tank of gas.
Enclosed with this year’s directory is a complimentary CD Rom that features all campgrounds, recreation vehicle (RV) parks, service centers and attractions found in the print version. The CD is in a searchable format that does not require an Internet connection—ideal for pre-planning at home or to find places to stay and attractions to visit while on the road.
The 2008 directory includes more than 284,000 updates and changes to provide outdoor enthusiasts the most reliable travel information for each state and province, highlighting attractions and points of interest to make planning an RV vacation simple. Each privately-owned campground is personally inspected and rated by a Woodall’s field representative team.
“Woodall’s continues to evolve and grow to stay ahead of the curve for today’s travel enthusiast,” said Joe Daquino, senior vice president, Affinity Media, the parent company for Woodall’s Publications. “The CD Rom and “One-Tank-Trips” makes it easier than ever for readers to customize their vacation planning to identify the most economical routes and dynamic attractions the North American continent has to offer.
The “One-Tank Trips” feature offers short treks that “pack a punch” but won’t break the fuel budget for travelers in seven North American regions including the South, Canada, Far West, Frontier West, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, Northeast. Southern state examples include an excursion through Georgia that begins on the beautiful Savannah Coast at Tybee Island, a robust beach town that features a still-functioning 200-year-old lighthouse. The visit offers opportunities to see more than 100 indigenous marine animals at the Tybee Island Marine Science Center and a journey through Georgia history with a visit to Fort Pulaski, designed by a young Robert E. Lee.
“One-Tank Trips” in the Frontier West include an Oklahoma adventure that begins with an old fashioned barbecue dinner and show at Discoveryland, named a “National Treasure” by InStyle Magazine. The next stop is 100 miles down the road at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. Those with the itch to go spelunking, can visit nearby Alabaster Caverns State Park, with caverns that stretch for three-quarters of a mile into the earth.
The directory outlines driving directions, locator maps, site widths, overnight fees and handicap accessibility for locations across the map from Florida’s sandy beaches to the Great Lakes to the wilderness of Alaska to the deserts of California. Each travel section begins with a quick, at-a-glance chart outlining which parks welcome big rigs, pets and are internet friendly (Wi-Fi parks are specially marked).
In addition to the comprehensive North American edition, Woodall’s offers nine regional campground guides, including the Eastern & Western editions and individual regional guides: Far West, Frontier West & Great Plains, Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic, New York/New England, the South and Canada. To further assist RVers, Woodall’s offers an RV Buyer’s Guide, a RV Owners Handbook, and two cookbooks: Cooking on the Road with Celebrity Chefs and Campsite Cookbook. Also available is the Woodall’s Extended Stay Guide to help RVers find places to park and RV for a month or a season. This guide is included in each edition of the Campground Directory.
Woodall’s is the official Directory of the Family Motor Coach Association, Family Campers & RVers, and Camping World President’s Club. Woodall’s also offers member benefits to the Escapees, Camp Club USA and Camping Life. For more information on Woodall’s and its publications, call 800-323-9076 or visit www.woodalls.com.
