Heartland Recreation Vehicles, now the fourth largest fifth wheel manufacturer in the country, entered the ultra-lightweight towable market with the introduction of its North Trail travel trailer series.
The unit was introduced in early September at the Pennsylvania RV Show in Hershey, Pa. A key feature is its crowned, laminated roof, an exceptionally rare item for an ultra-lightweight coach.
"Beyond the strong roof, there are 24 other items that set the North Trail apart from our competition," said Scott Tuttle, vice president of marketing for Heartland. "Dealer response has been overwhelming to this new product and we look forward to introducing our lightweight fifth wheel version of the North Trail in the coming months."
Manufactured with all aluminum construction, the North Trail is exceptionally strong despite its light weight. The laminated roof features aluminum trusses with tapered block foam bricks that are laminated together for long-lasting dependability. The unit's sweeping front-end design makes it highly aerodynamic and easier to tow.
"While you want to avoid walking on the roofs of other lightweight towables, Heartland tested the North Trail roof by placing a Rhino four wheeler and a driver on the roof," said Tuttle.
The crowned roof design promotes water and debris run-off, which keeps the roof free of standing water, small branches and leaves. "Our unique roof design promotes water and debris run-off, which eliminates standing water and the mold that comes with it," said Tuttle. "It's an investment we are willing to make to give our owners a longer lasting roof and peace of mind."
The sidewalls are 2 inches thick and made of aluminum tubing which improves the durability and energy efficiency of the trailer. Other features include:
- Outdoor grill
- Exterior speakers
- Marbelized counters with radius edges
- Residential acrylic sink with high-arch faucet
- Full-size overhead cabinets made of hardwood and featuring raised panel design
- 78-inch bed with matching bedspread
- Cedar-lined slideout drawer under bed
